Seeds & Gluten / Celiac DiseaseUpdated 11 days ago
Our seeds are not processed as food products. They are intended for planting to grow food, not for direct consumption. Since we are not a food-processing facility, it is unlikely that our customers will be exposed to gluten. We do not grind grain or handle food products in our warehouse.
Handling Seeds:
- We recommend that customers avoid eating our seeds as packaged.
- After handling seeds in the garden, it's best to wash your hands before eating any other food.
Sprouting Seeds:
- Our sprouting seed mixes do not contain oats, wheat, rye, or barley, and our machinery is cleaned between seed batches.
- During the sprouting process, seeds are rinsed repeatedly with water, which should remove any fine particulates.
Gluten-Sensitive Customers:
- We do not recommend growing wheatgrass, cat grass, or peas and oats cover crops for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, as these packets contain wheat or oat seeds.
Please also be aware that some of the seeds we carry are intended for ornamental purposes only and may not be safe for human consumption. Be sure to know the species you are planting and any potential risks.
