Placing Birdies Beds on Various Surfaces

Birdies Raised Beds can be placed on any surface, from bare dirt to concrete. Here are our recommended instructions:

Bare Dirt

• Easy Setup: Assemble your bed and place it where you want it.
• Weed Prevention: Use the cardboard from the packaging as a sheet mulch inside the bed to prevent weed growth.
• Leveling: For uneven soil, level the surface and remove any rocks for a solid, flat base.
• Protection and Drainage: Place the bottom edge of the bed on a 1” deep layer of pea gravel, stone chips, or large particulate sand like decomposed granite. Avoid beach or playground sand as it is too fine and doesn't protect the metal effectively.
